Just the ticket

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

I've just come back from a lovely 5 days away at my 'home away from home' on the scenic Central Coast.  I'm lucky enough to be able to spend the beginning of each year at my BFF's home where we spread our craft stuff over her lovely big table and relax and play.  We visited her local scrapbooking shop (5 minutes from home) and spent a couple of $$$ or so, went to the cinema to see The Secret Life of Walter Mitty which we both really enjoyed, had brunch at The Entrance (mmm... yum), watched some Midsomer Murders and Miss Fisher Murder Mysteries, and generally had a relaxing time.  I really look forward to spending this time with her family each year and hope it can continue for more years to come.

Once I got home, I checked on the different weekly challenges and thought I'd join in with a couple of them including Tagalong and SundaySketches.

The challenge at Tagalong this week is "Tickets" and although I looked in my stash, I couldn't find any tickets, so thinking outside the square, I realised I still had the cinema ticket in my bag from last Friday.

I started with a blank tag, coloured it with 'tea dye' distress ink and then using my new Tim Holtz stencil 'burlap' went over different areas with more 'tea dye' and for more colour added some 'stormy sky'.  In keeping with the sketch at SundaySketches, I added some dotty rub-ons, hopefully at the same angle as the ticket.

I stamped 'Heart Throb' onto some ivory cardstock and added the same stencil background.  He is coloured with watercolor pencils and the panel is edged with more 'tea dye'.   Since cinema tickets never have the full name of the film on them (probably as the name is too long) I decided to add the letter stickers to both the panel and the tag "Walter Mitty".

To finish off, a couple of arrow paperclips (SU) were attached at the top and bottom, the tag was mounted on co-ordinating cardstock and some yarn threaded through the top.

I'm entering this tag in the following challenges:

Thanks for visiting and I'll be back soon to show you the project I was working on while I was away.

Happy crafting!

  7. It sounds as if you've had a lovely visit with your friend Helen and I can almost feel the relaxed vibes coming out of my computer screen! What a great momento you've made with this tag - I always love keeping menus, tickets and programmes and this is such a good way to present the ticket. By the way, does $$$ mean you both spent a couple of hundred dollars each lol?! Vicky x
