Happy Ever After!

I found a new (to me anyway) stamp company recently.

It is UK based, their stamps were reasonably priced - how could I resist?

 They are cute stamps with a few fun sentiments thrown in,

however, I also realised that one of the stamps would be perfect for an Engagement card.

I cut a square from white card, stamped the hearts with Versamark ink and embossed with fine gold embossing powder.  I did the same with the sentiment.

I found the background paper in my stash and cut it to size, 

and adhered it to a folded kraft card.

The inside sentiment was embossed with gold as well.

Although I have met the newly engaged couple, I don't know them very well,

but I'm assured they had a wonderful engagement celebration - CONGRATULATIONS!

Celebrate

One of my son's friends was getting married recently,

which of course means, having a card to go with a gift.

I don't often make wedding cards, so for inspiration I looked at Pinterest.

As luck would have it, I had recently acquired a 'bow tie' die

which was just what was needed for this card.

As the die has little polka dot holes in it,  I cut coloured paper to fit in behind each one.

'celebrate' is also a die,

I just wish that it was all connected instead of being in four parts
as it would have made centreing it much easier!

The white front of the card is glitter paper, matted onto black shimmer card,

then on lime/yellow shimmer and finally a blue shimmer.

It was all put onto a white card.

Congratulations

In the last week or so, I've been going through my craft stuff

and culling what I know I will never use or is simply old [still new, but old].

I've even found a couple of things long forgotten about but still very useful.

I've decided culling is good for the soul.

 

I guess the downside of this is that I keep buying new things 

which is filling up the space I'm creating!  LOL!!

 

 

One of my friends recently asked me to make a wedding card for her.

I've eyed off this stamped for quite some time and finally decided I had to have it!

The design is from Pinterest but there are so many similar, 

I have no idea who would have originally made it.

I shaded the couple very carefully with Prismacolor pencils, 

mounted it on a silver mat and then onto folded white card.

The sentiment was stamped onto a snippet of white card with the ends notched.

It was adhered with a foam dot and a little white heart attached to the end.

Wedding #2

'Hello' on this beautiful winter's day in Sydney.  

Far too nice to be indoors so this will only be a quick post.

This is the second wedding card I made for my friend who has been invited to a couple of weddings in the next few months.

I came across a layout recently that I really liked the look of and thought would work well with this gorgeous heart, so with a little bit of tweaking, this is my finished card.

I did however, cheat a little bit because it's not stamped but is from a watercolour sheet of images, so all I had to do was cut around the border and add colour where I wanted.

I used metallic gel pens to colour the flowers and the word being careful not to smudge anything!  Once dry, I matted it with gold cardstock.   Another piece of white cardstock was also matted and some gold thread wrapped around both layers with the stamped sentiment included.  Two pieces of gold washi tape were added before the heart image was popped onto dimensionals.  The sentiment also has a dimensional under it to keep it at the same level.

I was really pleased with how this turned out and my friend was thrilled with both the wedding cards.

I also added another little tag with the same stamped image as before but this time stamped in black with gold detail added [which I forgot to photograph].

Wedding #1

I was recently asked by my BFF if I could make a couple of wedding cards for her.  Of course, I said "yes" and so I got playing over the weekend.

Without a particular colour specified, I decided to go with classic gold as I don't think you can go too far wrong with either gold or silver for a wedding.

I inked up the stamp using Versamark and embossed it with fine gold embossing powder.

A gold mat was laid under the white and some gold thread was wrapped around both layers which was finished off with a simple knot.

The sentiment was stamped and embossed in the same manner as above.

The insert also had words embossed in gold

[but silly me forgot to take a photo of the inside]. 

As an extra bonus, I added a little gift tag, also gold embossed and with a piece of gold thread attached.

Bride & Groom

I was out having lunch with one of my friends this week which was very pleasant!

After we had finished lunch we headed to the shops to buy a few items, among which was some wrapping paper as my friend was attending a wedding on the weekend
(today, actually)!

She asked me if I would be able to make a card to go with her gift and as the wrapping paper had owls on it, this is what I made.

I firstly checked out Pinterest knowing there would have to be wedding cards using Stampin' Up's "owl" punch.  Sure enough, there are plenty of cards there, with a number of variations of a similar design.  I tweeked the design a little, but I can't take full credit for it.

The "bride" was given a lovely blingy dress and a little lacey veil, while the "groom" has a fancy little waistcoat.

My friend was thrilled with the card and it certainly co-ordinated with the wrapped gift.

This isn't quite my usual style of wedding card,
however, it was lots of fun to make and I was quite happy with the outcome.

Wishing you happiness

Over the next month or so, DS#2 has been invited to three weddings

and as two of them are quite soon

I thought I should make a start with them.

Before anything else, let me just say the 'dirty' looking marks under the

hearts and bow are shadow.

Oops, not such a good photo, sorry!

This card was actually made a while ago at a stamp-camp challenge

but as it is new and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it,

and I don't have much time this week, 

it was decided it would be perfectly acceptable for one of the weddings.

 

The hearts are punched with a SU triple heart punch,

and the words are SU "Heard from the Heart".

 

 

Card #2 is on an ivory base followed by a black mat and another ivory piece of card.

The embossed heart specialty paper was bought last year, prior to another wedding,

and with just a small bit of trimming, was a perfect fit.

A length of black satin ribbon with a bit of pleating and some pearls

is wrapped around the card.

A Beautiful Wedding

We're home again after attending a beautiful wedding yesterday in the Southern Highlands.  The happy couple had gone to so much trouble to create a perfect day - quaint, country church followed by a gorgeous outdoor reception at the Montrose Berry Farm.  They couldn't have asked for better weather although by nightfall it had become rather chilly, but not a whisper of a breeze.

There were so many little details, even on the tables - vases of flowers along the whole length of each of the three tables, little bundles of books tied with string, even little teacups planted with succulents, and for each guest a little jar of homemade jam (mine is boysenberry, my DH's is pear & vanilla).

My DH and I stayed in a beautiful B & B, with each room having a different theme (we had the Swedish room) and this morning we were treated to a very yummy breakfast.  We had a bit of a look around Bundanoon (which is where we were staying) before heading home around 1pm as we need to be back around 3pm.  Such a lovely part of the country, we need to go back again but stay longer next time.

Anyhow, enough of the wedding.  I thought it time to show off my card.

I found the textured paper when I was in Melbourne recently and thought it rather elegant with its random hearts.   I stamped the words (SU 'Heard from the Heart') onto the shimmery cardstock in Jet Black Archival which fades slightly giving it a softer look.   A length of black satin ribbon with a touch of bling completes it.

I really should have photographed the inside prior to writing on it, but because I didn't want to goof up, I stamped the words (SU 'Occasional Quotes') and then wrote on the insert before sticking it inside the card.

For a wedding gift, the young couple had asked guests to contribute to the 'wishing well' so I made this little envelope pouch to match the front of the card and popped some money inside.  The finished card was then put inside a co-ordinating envelope and tied with a black ribbon.   This way I figured the 'gift' couldn't accidently get parted from the card.

I was very happy with the finished card and hope you like it too
