Cinderella

Ah, the joys of creating a 3D picture
when the instructions are all in Japanese!

My dear brother finds the most fascinating things when he visits Japan
and this was no exception.

It was my birthday recently, and he gave me a Cinderella Paper Theater
along with a display case to put it in (they are designed to go together).

All the pieces come flat in a cardboard envelope and all get slotted into position to create the picture.  Cinderella has little bits i.e. her hair, face etc that need glueing first, which was fairly easy.

The fiddliest part was slotting the images together - I'd put one or two spacers in ok, but trying to get the others in without the first falling out - arghhhh!!!!

On the second attempt, I finally got the 3D theater in the display case without falling apart!
I might just add, the theater fits very snuggly in the display case.

Thank you, big bro ...... very unique present!

Washi Tape Matchbook

On one of the FB groups I'm in, one of the ladies, Teresa Morgan, shared a youtube
of how to make a Washi Decorated Tag Matchbook.

After watching the tutorial and seeing what others had done,
I decided to join in the fun.

My first one was easy and lots of fun,
so of course a second one had to be made too!

The one on the right probably has too many pages in the signature,
but it's entirely up to you how many to add.

The left one has less pages in the signature,
and they are also made from a softer, handmade paper.

Flower Fairies

Good morning, welcome back!

I've always liked the flower fairies which were drawn and painted by
Cicely Mary Barker many years ago,
so when 49 and Market brought out some papers with these drawings,
I had to have some!

One of my aunts just celebrated her 90th birthday, and I was trying to think of suitable stamps or papers which would suit a lady of that age.
I looked through my paper collections and found this one,
"Flower Fairies of Spring - In the Garden".

I cut it to 130mm x 130mm and added a black mat before adhering to a folded white card.
The sentiment was stamped in 'jet black' Archival Ink
with a stamp from Stampendous - Birthday Wishes.

I had some flowers in my stash which co-ordinated with the background,
which added some dimension and height (but not too much as it needed to be mailed).

I added some Wink of Stella to the flower petals on the paper
for a bit of extra shimmer.

Reaching a 90th birthday is quite an achievement
and I hope my aunt had a beautiful day celebrating her special day!

Magical Jungle

Easter, April, end of daylight savings ....
what do all these have in common?  All in one weekend!

My weekend has been fairly quiet.
Other members of my family have been out & about, or working or having fun;
but my fun has been sitting, quietly doing some colouring in.

Whenever Mr Mojo skips off to who knows where, I find myself picking up my current colouring book, in this case "Magical Jungle" by Johanna Basford, and just colouring.
As this butterfly is perfectly symmetrical, I thought I'd experiment a little with my favourite Prismacolor pencils.

The left side of the butterfly has been coloured, and then I've gone back over each colour with my colourless blending pencil to smooth out and blend the colours.

However, on the right side, I've used exactly the same colours,
but this time left them just as you see them.

Both sides are equally as pretty, one is blended, one is not.

I had left all the lines between the patterns white as I wasn't sure what colour to do them, however once I'd finished colouring I decided to fill in the outlines with a silvery Gelly Roll pen.

I've enjoyed my quiet weekend of colouring - I'm hoping Mr Mojo has recharged his batteries over the last few days and will be at my craft desk tomorrow morning, ready for cardmaking again!
