12 Tags of 2013 - June

It's Queen's Birthday this weekend, which means an extra day off today.  So why did our phone ring at 6.50am this morning and when answered, no one was there?  Grrrrrrr !!!  So back under the warm blankies I dived, only to have weird dreams.  Anyhow .......

Over at Tim Holtz' "12 Tags of 2013 - June" he has demo'd how to use Distress Markers to blend and add shadows, along with  other great tips, to create a really terrific tag, so I thought I'd join in too.  I don't own the stamp set he demo'd, so I've used "Vintage Things Blueprint" clock image instead.

I've followed Tim's steps starting with stamping the image onto watercolour paper, which allows the colours to blend really well.   I've used 'broken china', 'wild honey' and 'peeled paint' on the clock face and 'fired brick' on the hands and bells, and 'weathered wood' for shadows on the blueprint lines.

Next came the background on the tag and again using Tim's steps, I splodged Distress Ink 'stormy sky' along with Distress Stain 'wild honey' and 'forest moss' on the craft sheet, spritzed with water and dragged the tag through to create the mix of colours.  After heat drying, the words ("Warehouse District") were added.  To finish off, Distress Stain was swiped over a length of seam binding ribbon and heat dried. A few drops of colour on the water brush were flicked onto the clock image, and it's finished.

Thanks Tim for sharing your step by step tutorial.

I'm entering this tag in "Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2013"

Happy crafting!
