"Gooseneck"

At the Penrith Papercraft Show that was on a couple of weekends back, I booked into Rachel Greig's Tag class for a couple of reasons : 1. I was really curious about how the new Distress Paints worked; and 2. I've watched Rachel demo at other shows and was quite excited to do one of her classes.

Playing with the paint was lots of fun.  We blobbed different coloured paints onto a non-stick craft sheet, spritzed it with water, then squished our already spritzed tags into it, and watched the colours run and blend together.  When we were happy with the result we heat set it before stamping over the colours.

On Tim Holtz' 12 Tags of 2013, the idea is to use the paints, along with the new metallic paints, to create a unique tag.  Unfortunately I don't have the metallic paints as they are very new to Australia and a little hard to find at the moment, but I still wanted to play along so substituted some glimmery Heidi  Swap spray instead.

I spritzed the stars (Dylusions 'Starry Starry Night' stencil) with the glimmer spray, outlining them with a white Sharpie pen to highlight them.

'Gooseneck' was coloured using Dylusion Inks and Distress Markers before cutting out and popping up on dimensionals.

CASology have the word 'word' as their theme this week and the Stampotique Designers Challenge theme is 'birthday', so with these elements in mind, this tag was created.

To finish off, I cut a length of seam binding ribbon, put blobs of different coloured paints on it, spritzed it with water, scrunching it into a little ball, and then heat dried it.  The paint makes it go a little stiff, but works really well.

This was such a fun tag to make and I can see the paints being used in lots of different ways.

I would like to enter this tag in the following challenges:
Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2013
     Stampotique Designers Challenge

Happy crafting!

  2. Hi, Helen! Gooseneck never looked more beautiful! I wish I could have taken the class with you (but you gave your own great tutorial right here) because I have a few of the paints and have never used them! Super tag, my friend! So, super, in fact, that I just "pinned" it on Pinterest (giving you credit, of course)!
