Five of Seven

Normal is Boring - yes, sometimes it is,

but other times, it's fun to splash out and enjoy yourself.

I started off with the background paper, something that wasn't just plain white but wasn't too over the top either - would you call it boring perhaps?

I stamped Brutus directly onto the background, then again on white cardstock 
and a third time on patterned paper.

Brutus was coloured with Prismacolor pencils and fussy cut.  
His jacket was cut from the patterned paper and glued in place. 

Initially, the clouds were simply stamped on the background but were a bit bland, 

so to jazz them up a bit, I stamped them again on a tiny bit of leftover paper, cut them out

and glued them in place.  [I wonder if it's raining flowers?]

 There was plenty of leftover paper from the jacket to create a mat and for contrast, I  used a black card 
[this one will definitely need an insert].

To finish, glossy accents was added to his glasses and left to dry.

Four of Seven

I was in need of a 'thank you' card this week,

so what a good opportunity to include it in this challenge.

 This girl is such a joy to colour.

Of course, I had to use my favourite Prismacolor pencils!

While I was in the colouring mood, I stamped up a second card,

this time for an upcoming birthday.

Just a change of colour and sentiment and voila, a second card is made.

La Vie Parisienne

I was inspired by a FB friend to play along with the Lace theme

on the Sunday Postcard Art challenge.

I started by stamping a postcard image with Versamark ink 

and clear embossing it.

I then blended 'fossilized amber' and 'vintage photo' Distress Oxide Inks together.

Rubbing the embossing with a tissue brings out the postcard image.

I stamped this elegant lady with 'coffee' Archival Ink.

A strip of washi tape lace was added across the bottom of the postcard.

La Vie Parisienne was stamped with 'Potting Soil' Archival Ink.

To finish off the postcard, I added a little bit of  'Mammered' Mixed Media Powder and heat set it.

Three of Seven

Create your Imagination

is the title of the third card in this challenge.

I think I tried to do too much on this card

resulting in a bit of a clumsy mishmash.

The background circles are made using an embossing dauber with clear embossing powder.

The colour is 'spiced marmalade' and 'worn lipstick' Distress Oxides inks blended together, 

then the excess rubbed off the embossed bits with a tissue,

resulting in the white circles.

A couple of other background stamps were added,

followed by the little bunny who is all ready for winter showers.

As I said earlier, I think this card has too much going on,

however, it allowed me to have a play with some items which have been waiting

to be used for some time.

Two of Seven

It really doesn't take me long - I'm already a day behind with this challenge!

Anyhow ...... moving along

This little chap is part of a set of stamps I recently acquired

so of course, I had to have a play.

The stamp is a two-parter, the first being the shaded body 

and the second being the outline.

His forehead seems a bit white to me, but as it's only the second time I've inked him up,

hopefully he might have a little more fur there next time.

One of Seven

Starting today, I'm taking part in an online challenge of making

Seven Cards in Seven Days

Day 1

 

The background is a turnabout stamp I recently bought

and thought I should try out.

I think the quote is perfect for this psychedelic background, 

which was made using four Distress Oxide inks.

Mystical Unicorns

The second card I entered in the Royal Easter Show

was made using the beautiful papers from Stamperia.

The paper on the front cover wraps around the spine and continues to the back cover.

Although the cover is pretty, it is the beautiful paper that makes it so.

 The inside of this book card is the focal point.

The unicorn and flowers have been fussy cut and positioned in place.

The unicorn is glued flat along the edge with dimensionals under his head and chest.

The same is done with the flowers, which allows the tag to slip into place but is removable for writing a message on the reverse side.

The fame is made using watercolour paper that is concertinered and  slotted together.

Decorative papers were used to frame the frame (hope that makes sense), 

then other flowers were fussy cut and glued into place

along with a little quote.  A piece of ribbon was tucked under the flowers.

I was very happy with the final result of this book card,

and although it wasn't a winner, it was displayed at the show 

along with all the other entrants.
