Fancy a cuppa?

It's been a bit of a lazy day today.
I've done some colouring, chatted to my BFF,
watched episode 1 of "Delicious" - a new four part series on the ABC
which stars among others, Dawn French, in a much different role to The Vicar of Dibley.

This afternoon I decided to have a play with a couple of used tea bags.
I carefully opened them, emptied the dried tea leaves, and flattened them out.

The one on the left was 'green tea'; the one on the right was 'irish breakfast'.

Using 'jet black' Archival Ink, I stamped the 'chinese lantern' from Lavinia Stamps.

I stamped the Distress Inks onto an acrylic block, spritzed a tiny amount of water
and proceeded to paint the colours onto the delicate buds.

I repeated the same process with the second teabag, stamping 'hanging lanterns' from Lavinia Stamps.
Extra dots of colour to the flower stamens were added with the Distress Marker.

I'm not entirely sure what I will do with them -
should I make cards or should I add them to my journal as samples?
What do you think?

Happy Crafting!

  2. Way to go!! What a wonderful idea to use teabags in art. The end result is exquisite. Cheers from a fellow Aussie, Marie/Ozstuff. (As soon as I saw your user name I had a bet with myself that you are an Australian).

  3. Such impressive pieces, Helen. My art is digital and I'm always in awe of artists who can do mixed media to this gorgeous level.

  4. Wow - these are lovely - I think do both - add some to a journal but others to a card - they would make fabulous cards. Thanks for joining us at Watercooler Wednesday Anything Goes challenge

  9. I love what you've done with the tea bags. I usually just use mine to tea stain papers for my journals! I believe this is your first time to post at Three Muses. Welcome! We hope to see more of your work in the future.
