A Crafty Weekend!

Earlier in the week, I realised that I hadn't sent a birthday card to one of my friend's daughters, so with my new stamps at-the-ready, I created something just a bit different for a 21st.

The stamps are a set called "Zinouk du jardin" from Carabelle Studio and are stamped & embossed before colouring with Gelly Roll pens.  The sentiment is from SU.

I'm still not sure how appropriate this card was for a 21st, but I hope the 'Birthday Girl' enjoyed it nevertheless.  I can be certain she wouldn't have received another the same!

I spent a lovely day out yesterday with my BFF at the Craft & Quilt Fair which is being held again this year at Glebe Island.  We wandered up and down aisles, oohing & aahing over all the lovely goodies that are displayed and stopping to buy a few bits & pieces along the way.  There was quite a display of handmade quilts, some of which had won prizes.  The amount of work that goes into them is astounding, not to mention the amount of patience required!
As my BFF is in Sydney this weekend staying with her mum, the three of us enjoyed a lovely dinner out tonight at a local club ..... mmm, very nice!

Until next time,

L'il Tatawea

The Wicked Wednesday ATC challenge this week is to
"add some text to your ATC"

A week or so ago, a package arrived that contained the stamps I had ordered from Stampotique.  As these stamps take around 5-6 weeks to be delivered, it's quite exciting to open the package and see what is inside (as usually I've forgotten what I've ordered).

I thought I would play along with this week's theme and "L'il Tatawea" fits perfectly on an ATC.  As I was rummaging through some leftover papers looking for something, I came across this paper which was just right for the background.

I stamped & embossed L'il Tatawea and coloured her with Distress Markers with a touch of purple Gelly Roll to add some shimmer (although you can't see it in the photo).  I then fussy cut her and popped her onto dimensionals.  I found some washi tape which co-ordinated with her wing colour and to finish off, a touch of Distress Ink was added around the edges of the ATC.

I'm entering L'il Tatawea in this week's Wicked Wednesday ATC challenge.

Abandoned Bookmarks

You may recall in a recent post that I was happily abandoning ATCs in my local shopping centre and a couple of other places, however, upon finding one torn up and dropped in the carpark, I felt a bit disillusioned.  I then wondered if the people picking them up thought they were going to 'get something' but all they 'got' was a bit of card - after all, if you don't know what an ATC is, then it really isn't anything in particular,
if you understand what I mean.

That got me thinking that perhaps I'd try abandoning bookmarks instead - people know what they are for, or if they don't, it's time they found out!

This cute bunny is called "Boots" and is one of my new additions from Stampotique.
I stamped and embossed the image and cut each bookmark 2 1/2" wide x 5 3/4" long.
Each one is coloured using Gelly Roll pens and when diluted with a water brush, it creates a lovely pastel, shimmery look, a technique I came across recently when someone was asking about Wink of Stella pens.
I used Distress Inks to soften the edges and as there was quite a bit of white space, I added some background using SU "Confetti" and Distress Inks stamped off once.  I then looked in my ribbon basket and found some threads to match.

This set of bookmarks are a little bit narrower and were done this way to fit the decorative top, which is a SU punch.  The colouring is done the same way as described above.
I've used another new set of stamps called "Zinouk du jardin" from carabelle studio which were purchased from Time to Create.

Hopefully these will bring a little joy to whoever happens to pick them up, as well as being a practical addition to any books they may be reading.

Mr Mojo appears to have returned from his long absence so I'll see you here again soon!

"Up"

Gosh, that must have been one VERY LONG BLINK
'cause I seemed to have missed May - OOPS!!!
..... and to top it off, we're nearly to the middle of June - OH DEAR!!!!

What on earth have I been doing?
Well, unfortunately the answer to that is "not much".
Mr Mojo seems to have gone AWOL and left me in the lurch (sigh),
so all I've really been doing is the odd swap each month.

I keep looking at everyone's FB & blog photos of their fabulous creations,
but when I sit at the table all I get is blank, nothing else, just blank!

Anyhow, the swap I am in for this month is a
Movie Themed Bookmark.

The first one I tried doing was St Trinians, I could sort of picture it in my mind, but the finished bookmarks didn't do it for me.  I even asked my DH his opinion, and his face screwed up and he said "hmmm ....... not really".

I then looked on Pinterest and the glimmer of an idea started to appear ......

"UP"

This rather cute image is "Romek" from Stampotique and he is one of a few new stamps that recently arrived on my doorstep.

I first stamped and embossed "Romek" directly onto the cloud paper, then stamped and embossed him again onto white cardstock, followed by stamping and embossing the balloons onto three different colour cards. I then fussy cut them out and glued each piece directly over the original image.

The background is paper I found when I was culling my stash and is perfect for these bookmarks. The bookmarks are finished with threads which were a freeby gift with some stamps I recently purchased.

When sending off swaps, I always pop them inside a card to the recipient which helps keeps them safe.

This card is heading to the UK

and this one is off to Canada (or is it the other way around?).

Which ever way it is, I hope the recipients enjoy their cards and bookmarks.

These whymsical birds are from Tim Holtz "Bird Crazy" and the quotes are from Darkroom Door "Stamper" collection.

If anyone happens to see Mr Mojo lolling about the place, please tell him
he is missed and 'all is forgiven'.

See you soon .......
