Flying!

What a beautiful day it has been today - it's almost the official end of winter,
the sun is shining in a cloudless sky, there is just a hint of a breeze
- if only it could be like this through summer as well!  LOL!

So, what have I been up to?
Inside making cards - what else would you expect?
I did, however, sit on the front steps in the sun to eat my lunch - very nice, I must say!

Hmmm ..... I don't think I've shown this card ....
it was made for a friend's recent birthday, and now that I know he received it,
I can show it.

I don't have nearly enough stamps for masculine cards,
so when I saw this one I thought it would do very nicely.

It is stamped with Archival 'jet black' ink
and coloured with Prismacolor pencils.

I'll be back soon with what I've been up to, so please come back again!

This little piggy ....

..... went to market, hehehe!!!

But honestly, these little piggy stamps from Stampin' Up!
are so cute, who could resist?

A few months ago I was asked if I would like to be part of the
Stampers' Challenge in Cardmaking, Stamping and Papercraft magazine.
Of course, I said yes, and so shortly after I received some Stampin' Up! goodies in the mail.

These cards were so much fun to put together and I can see them being used for quite some time to come.

I would like to say a BIG thank you to Stampin' Up! for their generosity in sponsoring this challenge!

You can see these and more samples in Vol 24 No 1, out now!

Doing something right

Woohoo!!!
I'm on a roll, or maybe just doing something right, but .....

I've been published again!!!

And not one, not two but 5 cards in total - WOW!!!

Drum roll .....

In Cardmaking, Stamping and Papercraft magazine [just picked up my copy today], is a special feature using Distress Oxide Inks.

These inks are so easy to use as they blend seamlessly and every result will be different.

Both these cards are made using the same technique, but different colours and stamps.

I was very happy with how they both turned out,
so if you are hestitant about using these inks, just go for it - they are brilliant!!!

Stamps
Visible Image (top card)
Lavinia Stamps (bottom card)

You can find these two cards in Vol 24 No. 1 - out now!

I'll be back later to show off the other three cards, so please come back!

Mini Albums of Positivity

As I was saying in my last post, I was looking for inspiration yesterday and came across a link for a mini album which was made from one sheet of paper.   What I finished up with was not one, but two mini albums!

I started with a sheet of A4 watercolour paper
[not the best quality paper, but it worked for what I wanted to use]
sprinkled Ken Oliver Color Burst (powder paint) in
'Violet' and 'Pthalo Green' and lightly spritzed with water.
Once that was dry, the paper was folded in half, and then half again.  It was unfolded and then folded in half the other way.  A cut was made along the fold line, between two other folds.  Using a bone-scorer, everything was folded flat to create a three page mini album.

[album 1 - first page]

Different washi tapes in black & white were added to the edge of each page.

[album 1 - second page]

The cute little images are from Stampotique 'animal cube', a perfect size for this album.

[album 1 - third page]

The word stickers are from Carpe Diem - posh.
To make the word stickers stand out, I edged them with 'seedless preserves' Distress Marker.

[album 2 - first page]

Both albums have a piece of linen washi tape on the spine.

[album 2 - second page]

These cute little dogs are from Stampotique 'dog cube'.

[album 2 - third page]

To finish them off, I wrapped a length of yarn around twice and added a charm.

I think I may send these two little albums to a couple of good friends who sometimes struggle with life, but who are also a great support to others around them.

Albums of Positivity!

I haven't been around so much lately,
and I'm not entirely sure why.
I try to craft every day, even if it's just a bit of colouring,
but sometimes there is really not much to show at the end of the day.

Yesterday, with Mr Mojo off somewhere else, I clicked on a link for a mini album using just one sheet of paper  [if I find the link again, I'll add it here] for inspiration.

I ended up with not one, but two mini albums!

[Now, if only I could figure out how to load the photos - this is weird!]

Ok, so until I figure this out, I guess there are no pictures!

In the meantime ........

God's Opinion

Hmmm, what shall I show you today?

Recently, my BFF asked if I could make her a selection of cards
as her stock was low.  Of course, I said 'yes' , so among the birthday cards,
I tucked in a couple of baby cards, one for a boy and one for a girl.

Yes, I know they are both the same, but with a little change of colour,
it's easy to make a simple but pretty design.

The little giraffe was a freebie on a recent magazine
and the sentiment is from Stampin' Up! called 'Occasional Quotes'
[I'm not sure whether it is discontinued as it's a few years old].

My friend was very happy with the selection of cards I made for her,
the least I can do when she makes me gorgeous quilts!

Angel Gate

Ooh, I'm EXCITED!
I've been published again, this time with a little
off-the-page canvas that I called Angel Gate.

I started by glueing a layer of white tissue paper to the pre-gessoed canvas, then added 'squeezed lemonade', 'mustard seed' and 'fossilized amber' Distress Inks until I was happy with the colour.

A script stamp was added randomly, followed by Modellier Creme through a stencil and allowed to dry.

A chipboard gate was given some finger painting using Silk glaze,
and finished off with crackle accents for added interest.

The angel was coloured with pencils for her skin and hair, and Distress Ink for her dress and wings.
Although you can't see it in the photo, her wings have Wink of Stella shimmer added.

You can find these instructions and lots more, in Issue 5 of Creative Papercraft - out now!

Stamps
Carabelle Studio - 'an angel to love'

I'm off to read all the other projects, so until next time .....
