Height of fashion

Looking around other blogs, I came across this weeks
Sunday Postcard Art with the theme "Animal People"
...... thanks, Kay!

This is such a fun theme and I knew exactly what I wanted to do,
so it didn't take long to make.

I started by masking off the edges of 4" x 6" card
which would finish the postcard with a white border.

I stamped Lady G directly onto the white card, stamped and cut a mask,
and proceeded to sponge a combination of 'crushed olive' and 'broken china'
Distress Ink over the card.

Leaving the mask in place, a quick spritz of water produces lots of background interest.

To finish, I stamped the words in 'jet black' Archival Ink, drew a pen line down the middle,
added a postmark and used just a smidge of a background stamp for a little grundge.

Finally, I carefully peeled back the washi tape that was used to create a border.

My own little world

We awoke this morning to blue sky and sunshine,
quite a welcome change after March has been so wet.

So with a clear forecast, we decided as a family,
to play one last game of Putt Putt.
Sadly after 47 years, our local Putt Putt is closing down at the end of April
as developers move in and build even more highrise.
There is SO much building going on in Sydney with highrises
popping up everywhere - so much change happening!

Anyhow, the five of us plus one delightful girlfriend,
had a lovely afternoon hitting golfballs around the three courses.

Which of course, means no crafting happened today,
so here is something that was made recently but didn't get blogged sooner.

Isn't he a cute little character?
Love the quote too!

I stamped him directly onto white card, coloured him with Prismacolor pencils,
with a piece of washi tape for him to stand on.

I edged around the white card and adhered it to a white card base.

Olive and Herbert

I'm having one of those days where you don't quite know what to do with yourself!
I've done a load of washing and hung it, hoping it doesn't rain.
It's looking a bit gray, but so far has remained dry.
The lounge room has been tidied,
but what to do with the stuff that came out?
Ugh!  I so wish my house was bigger and had more storage!

Anyhoo ......

 Olive the Ostrich

..... I thought I'd share a couple of cards that accompanied
some recent international swaps.

 Herbert Hare

Both cards were stamped with 'jet black' Archival Ink
and coloured with Prismacolor pencils.

My apologies for the lighting, it was a bit of a gloomy day when I took the photos!

Those who don't believe

Just a quick post today, in between finishing off swaps,
dropping off the car in the next suburb and walking home,
and shortly I'm off to the chiro for maintenance!

At the recent craft show I attended, I discovered a store that is now stocking Lavinia stamps,
so of course I had to have one or two or three or .......

As it was my BFF's birthday just after I bought these stamps,
I thought it was the perfect time to try them out.

I coloured the mushroom house with a combination of colour pencils and gelli roll pens
as I can't imagine a fairy house without sparkle somewhere!

The fairy's wings are sparkly with a hint of clear Wink of Stella pen and
outlined with black gelli roll.

A few rainbow rhinestones scattered around completed the scene.

The fragrance of flowers

Included in the March birthdays are both my aunts
(who happen to be sisters
who have birthdays a week apart.

I decided my usual quirky stamps may not be so appropriate for 80+ year olds,
so while I was crafting with my friends last Friday,
I borrowed some flowers to use instead.

The stamps are all from Paper Artsy
which are fabulous to interchange to suit the mood.

They are both coloured with Prismacolor pencils,
layered on a purple mat which in turn is adhered to white card.

An insert was added to both cards,
partly because I think inserts finish off a card nicely,
and partly to add a little more weight to the card.

I hope both my aunts have a very enjoyable birthday
and like their cards too!

Girly Girl

This week at Wicked Wednesday
(actually, a bit longer but I'll get back to that)
the theme is Girly Girl
which is sponsored by Ppinky Dolls.
Ppinky Dolls have a gorgeous collection of digi stamps
so please go and have a look - you wont be disappointed!

My DT entry this week is Pigasus who is just so sweet!

I printed her to ATC size, and coloured her with my favourite Prismacolor pencils
except for her hair which is coloured with a multi coloured pencil.
It has red, blue, green & yellow together in the same lead
and as I turn the pencil, I get a rainbow of colour.

I trimmed the white ATC down a fraction,
then cut another ATC using pink shimmer card.

I adhered them together and stamped around the edges with a stitching border stamp
(49 & Market)

You have until 12th April to enter this challenge
instead of the usual two weeks,
as one of our sponsors pulled out at short notice!

Listen to your heart

On Friday morning I went off on a crafty play-date with a couple of friends.
Last minute packing consisted of some white cardstock,
black inkpad and some stamps, suitable for some upcoming birthdays,
and my favourite colour pencils.

I started with this carefree spirit,
colouring her with various Prismacolor pencils.
The sentiment was stamped in 'jet black' Archival Ink.

This panel was adhered to some crinkly purple paper
which in turn was adhered to folded white card.

A matching 'happy birthday' sentiment was stamped on the inside.

A simple but, I think, pretty card.

Glimmer of Light

As you may or may not know,
I enjoy participating in a couple of international swaps.

Whenever I post my swap, I always like to include a card,
partly as I think it helps protect the contents and partly because it's sort of an added bonus for the recipient.
Quite often, I leave the card blank and write my message on a post-it note,
then if the recipient wants to use it for their own personal use, it's ready to go.

This is a card that accompanied an ATC recently.

It was the first time I'd used this stamp and I was quite happy with how it turned out.
The stamp is part of "Glimmer of Light" by Visible Image.
It was stamped in 'jet black' Archival Ink and coloured with Prismacolor pencils.
I edged around it with Distress Ink and layered it to a white card base.

I hope my swap partner liked it!

Green with Envy

Do you ever have days where your head is empty, totally devoid of any creative juices?
Yesterday was one of those days ..... actually, so was the day before.

Today was different - just as well, otherwise I'd be getting withdrawal symptoms!

The challenge this week at The Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers is

so I got to thinking about what stamps I could use that would work with this theme.

Ta Da!!!

I'm rather chuffed with how this turned out!

Someone is feeling very green with envy when the other kitty has a FULL bottle of milk and all he has are leftover fish bones!

Keep your paws off my milk!

Embellish It

The theme at Wicked Wednesday Challenge this week is
'Embellish It'
which is sponsored by The East Wind.

After I printed the digi image, I cut the card down to ATC size
and proceeded to colour her using Prismacolor pencils.

I cut a line underneath her boot and fussy cut around her legs
leaving the remainder of the image still on the original card.
I then added the woodgrain washi tape to the piece I had cut off
and reattached it to re-form the complete ATC.

It gives the appearance of her sitting on the floor enjoying her cuppa
while her kitty sits nearby.

Please pop over the The East Wind and have a look at all the delightful images they have in the store.
