Never apologise

Cat mantra - Never apologise for who you are.

Another quick little ATC today using Tim Holtz' "Mini cats & dogs".

I've coloured the kitty with watercolour pencils, with a wash of purple to ground him. The border is hand-drawn with a Distress Marker.

'H' is for Hound

I went shopping this week and came home with a couple of new stamp sets
including some cute little dogs (or perhaps they should be 'hounds').

These work perfectly with the theme at
The Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers
which is 'H' is for Hounds

I love making ATCs and this little hound was made to measure when it comes to something small.

He was stamped with 'jet black' Archival Ink and coloured with watercolour pencils.  A wash of grey gives him some grounding.

I had to smile when I read the quote as it looks quite snarky [hehehe!] !!!

With love

You know how some days, Mr Mojo seems to be elsewhere?
I think today is one of those days!

At Stampotique this week, the theme is
Polka Dots
so "Ellie" thought she would help me out while Mr Mojo is AWOL.

I started by playing around with some Ken Oliver Color Burst powder paints in 'Alizarin Crimson'.  A quick spritz with water then left to dry before stamping "Ellie" with 'Jet Black' Archival Ink.

"Ellie" is fussy cut before her trunk, party hat and toenails were decorated with shimmery gel pens in various colours.

I found some polka dot background paper, added some dotty washi tape for "Ellie" to stand on, along with the same washi tape to replace a ribbon finish.  With a gold pen, I ran a line around the edges of the tag for definition and finished it off 'with love'.

Mr Mojo is probably enjoying the beautiful sunshine outside today.  Perhaps he'll be ready to play again once the sun starts to set and the evening grows cold.

Summer Camp

The theme this week at
is Summer Camp sponsored by Lacy Sunsine

What better way to spend a summers day then fishing down on the pier?

This delightful little girl is coloured with Prismacolor Pencils and fussy cut.
The background paper is from Kaisercraft 'Sandy Toes' collection.

She is popped up on dimensionals to give the ATC a little more detail.

Welcome to the world

I was recently asked by a friend if I could make a baby card to co-ordinate with a lovely handmade cot quilt for a new baby boy.

After watching a youtube video by Collette Mitrega on a Twist & Pop Card,
this is what the finished card looks like.

[front of card without belly band]

The stamps come from a freebie set  with a magazine and is called
'Oscar the Owl & Pals'

[inside of card]

They are a rather cute set of stamps, perfect for a baby or small child.

[inside of card partly folded]

As the card closes, it sort of twists and folds.

Hmmm ..... I wonder if I should stamp a sentiment inside or leave it blank ready for a handwritten message?

[outside of card with belly band]

The images have all been coloured with Prismacolor Pencils.
Belly band wording is computer generated.

I hope this is a suitable card to accompany the gorgeous quilt.

Who, me?

At Wicked Wednesday this week, the theme is
Anthromorphism
sponsored by Miezo Digi Stamps

If, like me, this word doesn't come up in your daily language very often, it means
'giving human characteristics to non-human objects'

I'm not sure what this little character has done, but he/she definitely looks guilty of something!

I coloured the main trunk and head with Prismacolour pencils, however I used glitter gel pens for the leaves as they are quite tiny.  The little orange fruit is also a glitter gel pen.

To add some more interest, I adhered the image to a coloured background which created a border.

You can find what the rest of the Design Team have created with this theme here.

Vitamin D

The weather yesterday was glorious!

Actually, the weather this week has been beautiful and it is forecast to remain so until the end of the week.  Yes, it is WINTER here in Sydney, the nights are cold but the days have been sunny & bright.  My spring bulbs are starting to bloom, especially the jonquils (must take photo before they finish), the freesias are starting to get their blooms and the bluebells are peeking through the ground.
I love this time of year when the flowers are blooming!

Anyhow, as I was saying, yesterday was glorious, so I took my art journal outside to have a little play.
Apart from using the colours orange and turquoise I had nothing else in mind, so off I went spraying here and there with my Dylusions sprays.
A couple of stencils later, with what looks vaguely like sun rays, I knew what I wanted to do with Bones, complete with a hat - we don't want him getting sunburn, do we?

If you are wondering why I chose those specific colours, they are part of the Dylusions challenge on Facebook this month, along with 'Bones'.  This is the first time I've played along on this challenge but what better place to start, especially when you have some colour/theme prompts.

I stamped Bones with 'jet black' Archival Ink and fussy cut him so I could re-arrange his limbs.  The hat was stamped onto a leftover snippet of watercolour paper, and the words were stamped with individual letters and cut around.

Wheels

My friend Kay is hosting this weeks
and she has chosen 'Wheels' as her theme.

I thought I'd go olde world with this one, so have chosen sepia tones only.

I knew which stamp I wanted to use, then found a perfect background paper on which to stamp it.  I used 'Soft Suede' ink from Stampin' Up! as it was just the right colour.

One of these days I should buy myself a postmark stamp, however, the 'To' ,  'From'  and  'Sydney' stamps worked nicely instead.

Although there isn't a lot of stamping, I'm fairly happy with the finished postcard.

Out of my way ....

I seem to have been a bit of a social butterfly lately and as next week is shaping up to be very similar, I decided I would stay home today and have a play.

This angelic character seems to be a bit muddled but,
hey, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder
so who am I to question him?

Hello Sunshine

Hello, and welcome to this weeks challenge at

Our sponsor this week is
and the theme is
"Sunshiney Yellow"

If there really are fairies at the bottom of my garden, then this little one is more than welcome to sun herself in amongst the flowers.

Once again, I coloured her with Prismacolor pencils, blending the yellows to add depth to the flower petals.  You can see in the photo below, the added pops of sparkle to the centres of the flowers and the wreath in her hair using metallic gel pens.  Her wings shimmer with clear Wink of Stella pen.

The background shimmers with Color Shine sprays from Heidi Swap using a combination of Teal, Mint Green and Chartreuse .
Dipping my finger into 'Metallic Pure Sunshine' Art Alchemy Paint, I quickly added another burst of colour to the edges.

'Hello Sunshine' is made from KaiserCraft Tiny Alpha Stickers, the perfect size when working on an ATC.

Pocket Letter

In the swap group I'm in, this months hostess has chosen
Pocket Letter - Fall and/or School Days

The idea is to make 9 ATCs to fill a sleeve, and pop a little extra something behind each one including a short letter about yourself.

I had a look through my stash to find various things that I thought were suitable.  I even bought a set of Tim Holtz's stamps "Schoolhouse" to get the ball rolling.

All that is needed now, is to write the letter and then wait to find out who my swap partner will be.  Hope she likes my interpretation of the theme!

Beach Comber

Our sponsor at Wicked Wednesday this week is
and the theme is
"Things you might find at the beach"

It looks a little breezy at the beach this afternoon, but look what this delightful girl has found as she wanders along the water's edge - starfish, shells, even flowers.

The background paper was a leftover piece from another project, so to add a bit more colour to the lower green part, I dabbed on 'metallic pure sunshine' Art Alchemy Acrylic Paint to give the appearance of sand.

The sweet beach comber was coloured with Prismacolor pencils
with metallic highlights in her hair and on the dress and scarf.

To finish off, the title 'Beach Comber' was added with KaiserCraft Tiny Alpha Stickers.
