Glamour & roses!

we are going with a Colour Palette of
Blue, Yellow & Green
and our sponsor is Concetta Kilmer

I coloured her using my favourite Prismacolor pencils and added a few highlights to her hair with a metallic blue gel pen.

She was fussy cut leaving a little border, before being popped onto dimensionals.  The background paper is from Julie Nutting "Belle Vie"

R is for Resist

I am honoured as Queen of Snark, to be a guest on this new challenge at
'R is for Resist'

I chose a new (and unused) stamp that I bought only recently using the words as a resist on the background.

I stamped the words a number of times over the background using Versamark and clear embossed them.  I then took my piece of card outside as it was a lovely day with no breeze, and spritzed it with Heidi Swap 'Color Shine' sprays in 'Teal', 'Mint Green' and 'Chartreuse'.  Using a tissue, I rubbed over the words to remove the colour from the sprays.

I stamped Alice on white cardstock with 'jet black' Archival Ink and coloured her skin, hair, apron and stockings with Prismacolor pencils, adding shading as needed.  I left her newsprint dress uncoloured.

I popped Alice onto dimensionals to give her a bit more emphasis, however before doing that I cut her legs off and glued them directly onto the background.

The background was given a black mat before attaching to white card
(not pink as it looks in the photo - hmmm .... not sure why that is - oops!).

Hair Do

I've been keeping a secret for the last little bit, but now I can reveal that I am very excited to be a part of the

The theme this week is
"Hair Do"
and our sponsor is SLS Lines.

I started by colouring her body with Prismacolor pencils in a couple of different skin tones.
Her hair is coloured using metallic pencils in tones of purple and a fuschia pink, with the smaller details of the stars & moon in silver and the sun in yellow.

The background is a blend of Distress Inks with a mask covering the image.

Bloom

I needed to send a note to a distant friend recently, so quickly whipped up this card.
Of course, part of the reason it was so quick was because I used an printed image from a sheet of 12 x 12 watercolour card.

ADORNit - Art Play Paintables - Be Awesome

There are 12 images on each sheet and all you need to do is cut around the border, colour and mount on a card, tag or whatever takes your fancy.

I used a purple card base, a black mat and a torn piece of handmade paper before adhering the coloured bloom image on top.
Easy Peasy!!!

As the card was purple and would have been both hard to read and write on, I added a white insert and wrote a little note to my friend.

Awww .....cute!

Just because I could, but with no particular person in mind,
I decided to make a couple of baby cards using some freebie stamps that I found in a box when I was looking for something else.

Aren't they cute?

I started with this one, however before I started colouring the image, I looked through my stash of cardstock for a neutral baby colour and found this lovely green.

I tried to keep the colour palette neutral so it would be suitable regardless whether it would be for either a girl or boy.
Both cards were stamped with 'jet black' Archival Ink and coloured with Prismacolor pencils.

Wedding #2

'Hello' on this beautiful winter's day in Sydney.
Far too nice to be indoors so this will only be a quick post.

This is the second wedding card I made for my friend who has been invited to a couple of weddings in the next few months.

I came across a layout recently that I really liked the look of and thought would work well with this gorgeous heart, so with a little bit of tweaking, this is my finished card.

I did however, cheat a little bit because it's not stamped but is from a watercolour sheet of images, so all I had to do was cut around the border and add colour where I wanted.

I used metallic gel pens to colour the flowers and the word being careful not to smudge anything!  Once dry, I matted it with gold cardstock.   Another piece of white cardstock was also matted and some gold thread wrapped around both layers with the stamped sentiment included.  Two pieces of gold washi tape were added before the heart image was popped onto dimensionals.  The sentiment also has a dimensional under it to keep it at the same level.

I was really pleased with how this turned out and my friend was thrilled with both the wedding cards.

I also added another little tag with the same stamped image as before but this time stamped in black with gold detail added [which I forgot to photograph].

Wedding #1

I was recently asked by my BFF if I could make a couple of wedding cards for her.  Of course, I said "yes" and so I got playing over the weekend.

Without a particular colour specified, I decided to go with classic gold as I don't think you can go too far wrong with either gold or silver for a wedding.

I inked up the stamp using Versamark and embossed it with fine gold embossing powder.
A gold mat was laid under the white and some gold thread was wrapped around both layers which was finished off with a simple knot.

The sentiment was stamped and embossed in the same manner as above.

The insert also had words embossed in gold
[but silly me forgot to take a photo of the inside].

As an extra bonus, I added a little gift tag, also gold embossed and with a piece of gold thread attached.

I'll be back again tomorrow with the second card.

Rolling or not!

Rock and Roll is the theme this week at
Wicked Wednesday ATC Challenge.

This got me thinking outside the square, so with a bit of creative licence, this is what I came up with.

I've had these stamps in my stash for quite a while, and there is no way I could ever part with them, but they worked for what I had in mind.

I started by stamping them with 'jet black' Archival Ink and coloured them using my new Inktense pencils.  These work a bit differently to what I'm used to and I think I need some practice to per-fect colouring with them.

With the background I was thinking rocks, hence why kitty fell over, and so the rocky path seemed just right for the background.  I stamped it over some patterned paper and gently coloured the foliage and rocks.

Both kitties were fussy cut before being popped onto dimensionals.

'B' is for Booze

I was very excited when I checked a recent challenge at the
and found I'd been crowned
Queen of Snark!
I feel very honoured and am wearing my crown with pride!

As Queen of Snark I was also invited to be a guest on the
'B' is for Booze challenge.

Good friends, a glass of wine and lots of gossip, what could be better?

I started by stamping the ladies twice onto white cardstock and colouring both images with Prismacolor pencils.  The first image was fussy cut completely including the bar stools, the second was fussy cut around the ladies themselves, including just the legs of the middle lady.

A sentiment, background paper and black mat complete the card.

Florrie's Party

The new theme at Stampotique this week is
PARTY
so Florrie has put on her best dress to join in the fun.

Florrie is the latest addition to my Stampotique family, so perhaps the party is in her honour?

I started by finger painting a piece of white cardstock with some yellow yummy-ness in the form of Art Alchemy acrylic paint in 'pure sunshine'.  This is a metallic paint I bought recently just to try out and now I'm wishing I'd bought more than 1 little pot.  It is so vibrant and the thin layer I painted dried almost straight away.  I then went back and added a little more to create a bit more texture.
I then added little touches of Silk in 'pretty peridot' and 'bolivian blue' around the edges, again finger painting.

It's very hard to get a photo of the metallic finish,
especially as this morning is a bit gloomy.
[Where is the sun that was out earlier this morning?   ..... And where did those grey clouds come from?]

Anyhow, back to Florrie ...... I started by colouring her with Prismacolor pencils, but when I got to her dress, I decided to stamp another image onto patterned paper and so she has a pretty spotty dress.  I then fussy cut Flossie being extra careful with her thin little legs.

Her party hat was coloured with a red gel pen and the balloons were painted with the same Silks mentioned above.

Flossie was given a piece of washi tape to stand on.  All images were popped up on dimensionals.

No one is watching

Gosh, it's a dark & cold afternoon and I've noticed it has just started to rain again.

So today's card should brighten up the gloom ....

This groovy chick is Olive Ostrich and she is ready to pirouette and twirl in her dancing shoes....

.... and afterwards she may sing a song [hehehe!]

Olive was stamped with 'jet black' Archival Ink and coloured with Prismacolor pencils.
A rainbow background paper was added before adhering to white cardstock.

The words were printed on the computer and a ticket stub was added,
obviously from Olive's dance performance!

This is the second of the two cards which are part of the international swap in which I'm participating.

Bad hare day?

Having a bad hare day?

This is the first of two cards that was made for another swap I'm in where we needed to use a Stampotique stamp to create a card.

Herbert Hare was stamped onto white cardstock and coloured with Prismacolor pencils. A black mat was added for contrast before adhering to the card front which has been stencilled using 'faded jeans' Distress Ink.

The words were printed on the computer.

I've been framed!

A quick post today
as Plushy has been framed
and the culprit is yet to be found!

Poor Plushy

How could someone 'frame' this cutie?
Perhaps it was his evil twin?

Alas, no, he's been 'framed' too!

What to do,..... what to do .......

I made these two ATCs for a swap that I'm in where the theme is ..... yes, you guessed it

Time to Fly

The current challenge at
the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers is
'O' is for Outer Space
and I soon knew which stamp I'd use on my card.

What better way to travel through time and space then by TARDIS?

I started by inking the words in Versamark and clear embossed them.  The next step was to use a few different blue Distress Inks, blending them together to give a mottled appearance, then a quick spritz of water leaving it to dry.  Using a tissue I gently rubbed any ink off the letters.

The TARDIS was inked with 'faded jeans' Distress Ink, lightly spritzed and stamped onto watercolour paper.  Once dry, I coloured the panels with the same ink and waterbrush.  The TARDIS was fussy cut and popped onto dimensionals at an angle to the words.  It was then mounted on black cardstock.
